FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes Raven Boats different?

Raven Boats are designed and tested by a professional marine captain in a variety of conditions. Every design goes through constant refinement — tested regularly, sometimes daily, to ensure it performs the way it should on the water, not just on paper.

Each model is built around a five-air-chamber hull for redundancy and safety. Our materials are chosen for durability and longevity, including 1.2 mm German PVC and reinforced aluminum one piece transoms built to handle years of use.

At Raven, we don’t accept “good enough.” Every generation of boat builds on what came before it — small improvements, better methods, tighter quality control. That’s how progress is made.

When you buy a Raven, you’re not just buying a boat — you’re joining a group of owners who have direct access to the people behind the company. We stay involved and stand behind every product we make.

2. Your price is lower than some other manufacturers why is that?

There are many excellent inflatable boat brands on the market, each with their own approach. At Raven, we’ve chosen a different path.

We design and test every model ourselves, run a lean operation, and keep marketing simple. By handling things directly — from factory coordination, design and development to customer support — and running a simple direct to consumer model were able to deliver an exceptional boat our way, on our own terms.

Our goal is to build boats that deliver exceptional quality and long-term value, every decision we make supports that purpose.

3. Are Raven Boats suitable for ocean use?

Yes. Our boats are designed with the BC coast in mind and have been tested in various marine environments. The 5-chamber build provides redundancy and peace of mind when exploring offshore or remote waters. Ocean use is for advanced users only. Always flush your outboard with fresh water after salt-water use.

4. Why are your horsepower and load limit ratings lower than some other manufacturers?

On an apples to apples to comparison, our horsepower ratings and max capacities are set conservatively to ensure safe and predictable handling across all conditions, sea states, and levels of operator experience.

These ratings do not reflect the build quality or structural strength of the boat — they reflect our commitment to safety and control. Every model is tested under a variety of conditions to determine the balance point between performance, stability, and handling.

Our goal is to ensure that every Raven performs consistently and safely, whether it’s your first day on the water or your thousandth.

5. What size motor can I use?

The RECON 330 is rated for up to 15hp, the RECON 380 and SCOUT 380 are rated for a 25hp motor and the RECON 420 is rated for up to a 30hp. All are designed to use a short shaft motor.  Always refer to the transom label and local regulations before use.

6. Can I set it up by myself?

Yes! Raven Boats are designed to be user-friendly and portable. The rigid aluminum floor is removable and assembles without specialized tools. Most customers can complete setup in under 20 minutes solo.

7. Is there a warranty?

Yes. All Raven Boats come with a 3-Year Limited Warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. For full details please contact us.

8. Can I use Raven Boats for fishing?

Absolutely. Our boats are stable, durable, and customizable - perfect for fishing, crabbing, or dropping traps. Many of our customers outfit them with rod holders, coolers, and more.

9. How do I store my inflatable boat?

Deflate, dry completely, and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing when wet or near chemicals, fuel, or extreme heat. If left inflated, keep the boat shaded and avoid over-pressurization.

10. How is shipping handled?

We ship across Canada. Orders are processed within 3-5 business days and shipping times vary based on location. You’ll receive a tracking link once your boat leaves our warehouse. All boats are shipped in durable packaging to prevent damage during transit. We ship to your local depot for pickup.
